Can I get a GP appointment through an app?

With Livi, you can see a registered GP by video from your mobile phone or tablet. They can offer medical advice for any symptoms that do not require a physical examination. To speak to a doctor through your phone, simply download the Livi app from the App Store or Google Play, sign up and follow the steps. You can choose to see the next available doctor or book a specific time in the next three days.

Once you’ve booked, you’ll be asked to fill out a symptom form and can attach photos to help the Livi doctor diagnose your condition. They can then advise whether you need any medicine or further care.

What is the best doctor app?

The doctors that work for Livi’s online GP app are all General Practitioners in England (and GMC certified). All of our GPs have extensive experience in delivering primary care to patients and have been trained to provide the best possible care through video consultations.

Can I use a virtual doctor app at any time of day?

As Livi’s opening hours vary by location, it’s best to check your area first. You can search for your current NHS GP practice [here](https://support.livi.co.uk/hc/en-us) to check for the opening hours in your area. Once you’ve come through to our app and contacted us in the correct opening hours, we aim to put you in touch with a Livi GP in no more than 20-30 minutes.

How much does it cost to use an online GP app?

Accepted Answer

The Livi app is free for everyone and can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Livi has partnered with local NHS GP surgeries across the country to provide an online NHS GP service. If you’re registered with one of our partner NHS practices, your GP appointments will be free. The only charge will be for prescribed medications which can vary.

If your area is not yet eligible, you can use our pay-as-you-go service that allows you to use the online GP app the same day for £59. This includes any prescription-writing, fit notes and specialist referrals.

Medications prescribed by our pay-as-you-go service will not be eligible for NHS exemptions or discounts. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express payments.

Question 5

How quickly can I speak to a GP through an online doctor app?

Accepted Answer

Once you’ve made an appointment through our doctor app, we aim to put you in touch with a Livi GP as soon as possible. This waiting time can vary throughout the day, but does not usually exceed an hour.

Question 6

Can I discuss any medical problems with a Livi doctor over the phone?

Accepted Answer

There are some cases where we would not recommend using an online doctor app. For example, you:
- have a symptom or condition that needs a physical examination (e.g. you need to have your chest listened to or ear examined)
are in need of controlled drugs, like those containing pregabalin (Lyrica) or gabapentin (Neurontin) – these are not prescribed by Livi GPs
may need treatment that involves long-term and regular medical contact
are in need of a [sick note (fit note)](https://www.livi.co.uk/online-gp-appointments/sick-notes) that may need to be extended for longer than 2 weeks – Livi GPs can provide sick notes for up to 14 days only

Can I use an online doctor app while abroad?

Accepted Answer

You can use the Livi doctor app while at home, on the go or even if you’re abroad for work or leisure. But remember, the GP will only be able to provide medical advice through Livi’s online doctor app. A Livi GP cannot offer prescriptions or access health services in another country.
