It’s now easier than ever to see a GP online and arrange a video consultation on the same day – or on a day that suits you best. You can use your smartphone, tablet or computer to have your GP consultation online. GP practices in eligible areas will also offer phone or video consultations through Livi.
An online GP appointment is very similar to an in-person consultation. The only difference is you won’t be sitting in the same room. Instead, you’ll be discussing your health concern using the video camera in your smartphone, tablet or computer.
The GP will still record the details of your appointment on your medical notes, or on a GP appointment summary which can be sent to your usual doctor. Livi GPs can book a follow-up appointment if needed.
Once you’ve downloaded the Livi app, all you need to do is sign up and select your existing GP practice to book an online GP appointment. You can wait to see the next available GP, or choose a time within the next 3 days that’s most convenient for you.
Like you would with any other GP appointment, the GP will discuss and assess your condition, and then decide on the best treatment for you. If you have an acute medical problem like an infection, and they decide you need medication, the Livi GP will issue you with a prescription. This will be delivered to a pharmacy local to you.
If you pay for prescriptions on the NHS, the standard NHS prescription fee will apply. If you use our pay-as-you-go service, the price of a prescription may vary depending on the medication.
An online GP appointment works exactly the same as an in-person consultation. If the GP decides you need to see a specialist for further treatment, after a full assessment, they can make a referral for you the very same day.
If you’re not well enough to work, you don’t need the added stress of leaving the house to get a sick note from a doctor. During an GP appointment, an assessment will be made about whether you are fit enough for work. And if necessary, a sick note (also known as a fit note) will be issued.
Livi GPs can provide a sick note for up to 2 weeks, providing you don’t already have a sick note from your usual GP. The sick note will be sent straight to your inbox through the Livi app, ready for you to show to your employer.
As long as you can access a smartphone, tablet or computer, it doesn’t matter where you are in the United Kingdom. If you live in an area that’s not yet eligible for a free Livi GP appointment, our pay-as-you-go service is available 7 days a week. These online GP appointments cost £60, with no hidden charges, and this covers everything including referrals, prescription writing and sick notes.
