LIVI is a digital extension to existing GP practices, allowing PCNs and Federations to offer a 7-day-a-week digital service - 365 days per year.

LIVI improves efficiency, patient health outcomes and reduces pressure on both practices and the wider health system.

  • 7-day-a-week GP appointments - including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Patients who don’t need physical care can be treated digitally, freeing up GP time in practices.
  • Patients can still have contact with an NHS GP even if there are no available physical appointments.
  • GP practice staff and GPs have more capacity to offer the wider services required under the new GP contract.

LIVI enables practices to meet their obligations under the Long Term Plan

By April 2021 all GP practices must provide patients with access to online consultations. Under the new Primary Care Networks, GPs are also required to widen the services offered within their surgery.
